Former head of Afghanistan’s Administrative Office Fazel Mahmood Fazli has questioned the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) for not explicitly naming Pakistan in connection with recent airstrikes on Afghan territory.
In a post on X Fazli said UNAMA was deliberately avoiding naming Pakistan despite claims that Pakistani airstrikes had killed civilians, including women and children.

Fazli criticized the United Nations, saying that an organization that spends significant resources maintaining its bureaucratic structure while claiming neutrality despite being involved in Afghanistan’s instability “no longer has the right to claim neutrality.”
He also warned that Afghanistan should remain vigilant arguing that the same international forces could once again create conditions that push the country toward an open-ended civil war.
The remarks came after UNAMA said on October 1 that at least 10 civilians were killed and nine others injured in recent airstrikes in Afghanistan’s Kunar and Helmand provinces with children reportedly among the majority of those killed.
However in its statement UNAMA did not directly attribute responsibility for the strikes to Pakistan.
