Qane:drugs are cultivated and processed in Pakistan’s Balochistan province

Mufti Abdul Mateen Qani spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior of the Taliban government says that narcotics are cultivated and processed in Pakistan’s Balochistan province and then smuggled to other countries, including Afghanistan.

Following reports of increased drug cultivation and production in Iran’s border areas and along the Durand Line Qani called on the United Nations and the international community to investigate the issue and take action to prevent drug cultivation production, and trafficking in the region.

He stressed that security forces are making efforts to curb drug trafficking throughout the country, including along the Durand Line and at official border crossings.

Qani also urged the international community and the United Nations to take a stand against drug cultivation and production in neighboring countries and to take effective measures to prevent these substances from being smuggled into Afghanistan and other countries in the region.

These remarks come amid reports of expanding poppy cultivation in parts of Pakistan’s Balochistan province and Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan region.
