Disagreement prevents final statement at Moscow format meeting

Participants at the Moscow Format meeting on Afghanistan failed to adopt a joint final statement due to disagreements between Kabul and Islamabad.

According to Interfax Zamir Kabulov Russia’s special representative for Afghanistan said the Taliban delegation objected to repeated references to Afghanistan in the section on terrorism.

Kabulov said that despite the lack of a joint statement participants agreed to continue consultations under the Moscow Format.
