Sheikh Saleh Al-Fawzan the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia has reportedly said that the Houthis call themselves Muslims but “Islam is innocent of them,” in remarks concerning attacks attributed to the group.
The statement comes amid reports of an alleged attack on a facility serving the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah.
Saudi authorities have previously accused the Houthis of attacks targeting religious and civilian sites.
The reported remarks have drawn attention amid ongoing tensions involving the Houthis and Saudi Arabia.
