The Taliban’s Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs says 120 cases of children and teenagers under the age of 18 going missing were recorded in Kabul last solar year. Of those 85 were girls.
However comprehensive figures for the rest of Afghanistan are unavailable and the total number of missing children nationwide remains unknown.
Families say searching for their missing children is difficult leaving them enduring days and weeks of anxiety and uncertainty about their loved ones’ fate.
