The UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Afghanistan has expressed concern over Pakistan’s attack on a drug rehabilitation centre in Kabul and the deaths of women and children in other attacks across Afghanistan.
The Special Rapporteur stressed that victims and their families deserve justice, warning that deliberately targeting civilians could constitute a war crime and that those responsible must be held accountable.
The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) and Amnesty International have also called for an independent investigation into the attack on the rehabilitation centre and for accountability for those responsible.
