Macron: G7 to Hold Meeting on Energy Crisis in Coming Weeks

French President Emmanuel Macron said on Friday that the G7 countries will hold a meeting in the coming weeks to strengthen cooperation and help secure energy supplies amid the current energy crisis stemming from the war with Iran.

Macron said the meeting would focus on strengthening cooperation among G7 members and key partners, avoiding unnecessary tensions, and exploring options for releasing energy from strategic reserves or lifting restrictions.

The meeting comes as Macron’s government faces growing protests and pressure over high fuel prices.

Macron was also meeting with leaders of political parties represented in parliament to discuss the crises in the Middle East and Ukraine and their impact on energy markets.
