UN Under-Secretary-General Rosemary DiCarlo met with Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid in Kandahar on Monday, October 5.
According to Mujahid, the meeting focused on reducing tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan and resolving differences through peaceful means.
The two sides also discussed assistance for returning migrants international support for counter-narcotics efforts addressing the impacts of climate change, and Afghanistan’s economic development.
The meeting comes amid heightened tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan in recent days with relations between the two countries also being discussed in regional forums.
