The UK government has announced plans to relaunch its refugee resettlement programme giving priority to Afghan women and girls.
According to The Guardian Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said the programme would provide a legal route for vulnerable refugees fleeing war persecution and hardship.
The number of refugees accepted will initially be limited and determined annually.
Those admitted will have an easier pathway to permanent residency, subject to security and criminal background checks.
