Abbas Araghchi: Macron Must Clarify His Position

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has criticized French President Emmanuel Macron, accusing him of changing his position on Iran’s nuclear activities.

In a post on X, Araghchi recalled that shortly before the United States withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal in 2018, Macron told the US Congress that France would not abandon the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) because it had signed the agreement.

According to Araghchi, Macron now claims that he has always opposed “any form of nuclear activity” in Iran.

Responding to the French president’s remarks, Araghchi wrote: “Get your story straight, Mr. President.”

The JCPOA was signed in 2015 between Iran and six world powers. In 2018, US President Donald Trump announced the United States’ withdrawal from the agreement.
