The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and Action Against Hunger have warned that child malnutrition is increasing in Afghanistan. They predict that more than four million children will need treatment for malnutrition in 2027.
According to the organizations around 1.09 million children will suffer from severe acute malnutrition while nearly three million others will face moderate acute malnutrition.

Additionally approximately 1.3 million pregnant and breastfeeding women are expected to experience malnutrition.
Expressing concern over the worsening crisis the organizations have called for urgent and sustained financial support to prevent and treat malnutrition in Afghanistan.
